Caroline Canney

Caroline Canney is the Director of Pastoral Ministries at St. Mary’s.

Although Caroline was born in Great Falls, Montana, she spent most of her growing up years in California.  She has a teaching credential in Physical Education and Mathematics from San Jose State University.  Caroline met George Canney in 1966 while attending San Jose State and married him in 1968.  They moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Caroline taught inter-city junior high school.  In Minnesota their first two daughters were born.  In 1974 they moved to Champaign, Illinois where George had accepted a teaching position and where their third child was born.  In 1978 they moved to Moscow when George accepted a position at the University of Idaho.

Caroline was a stay-at-home mom and ran a small day care in her home for many years.  During that time, two more sons were added to the family.

In 1996, Caroline accepted a half time position as Director for Children’s Religious Education at St. Mary’s.  Later she assumed responsibility for coordinating the adult program as well.  In 2001 she went full time when pastoral ministries was added to her job description. Caroline retired briefly in 2011, returning in spring 2012 to direct pastoral ministries.
